PARK HYUNGJIN

박형진은 초록이 우거진 DMZ의 푸른 땅을 보며, 수많은 감정들이 녹아 시간이 멈춰버린 땅 미움을 꾹꾹 눌러 담고 있는 땅, 그럼에도 불구하고 자라나는 어떠한 마음들을 느꼈다. 

이러한 감정을 담아 DMZ에서 언제 찍었는지 알 수 없는 인터넷을 검색해 수집한 사진들과 2017년 안보관광버스를 타고 방문하여 관광객의 시선으로 바라본 땅의 모습을 담은 사진, 그리고 2023년에 찍은 선명한 피사체를 가지고 있는 사진, 세 가지 시점의 푸른 모습을 촬영한 사진을 모았다. 그리고 그 사진들을 출력해 같은 크기로 잘라 종이 위에 쌓았으며 그 모습을 작가의 붓질로 옮겨오고 그 그림을 토대로 다음 그림을, 또 다음그림을 반복해서 그려냈다.

Looking at the lush greenness of the DMZ, Hyungjin Park saw a land infused with various emotions where time had come to a stop, a land in which feelings of hatred had been tamped down tightly yet one where certain feelings grew all the same. To capture those feelings, she collected photographs of those DMZ plants from three different perspectives. Some were pictures gathered from online searches, where it was impossible to tell exactly when they were taken. Others showed the land as seen by tourists visiting on a security tourism bus in 2017, and still others show clear images taken in 2023. Park then printed out the images, trimmed them to identical sizes, and layered them on paper, where she repeatedly rendered them with an artist's brush.
